Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am raising money for Menigitis now a massive charity that do amazing work helping people effected by Menigitis who have either had it themselfs or lost someone close to them. To lose a loved one or have to live with the after effects of menigitis is something no one should have to go through but sadly this is a reality. Meningitis doesn't care about age and can affect new born to old age and can kill in hours if not detected early. If you are lucky enough to survive it then you will have life long after effects and tax on the body and brain. Meningitis Now provide everything you need to get back on right path to recovery and support you and family with everything needed. One of the most important things they do is explain everything that surprisingly not many know about the disease and little to no help when you are discharged from hospital and there is many going through or gone through similar to you.

This charity is close to my heart as I had it in 2010, 5 days after my first born daughter was born and when I was discharged from hospital she was 6 months old. I had to learn to walk again as lost all sensation from waist down and retrain my brain all after being told i had 48 hours to live and could lose legs and brain function. 6 months is a long time in hospital but a small price to pay to survive. There are so many after effects most not visible on the outside and Menigitis Now help and guid you from the first second you get in contact and can not thank them enough. I have met friends for life through the charity and the strength of the people and there story's of loved ones lost from baby's to students to old age and still manage to be positive and move forward with life when it would be easier to just quit or give up. This is what the charity does for so many and any money raised will be massive help to keep growing.

I know times are hard but any contribution towards the target will be massively appreciated.

Thanks

Ashton
