Story
Wythenshawe Hospital Transplant Fund, a cause that is incredibly close to my heart. Every donation—no matter how big or small—will help provide vital care and life-saving treatment to patients at one of the UK’s leading transplant centres.
The Wythenshawe Hospital Transplant Centre is one of only five heart and lung transplant centres in the UK, providing life-saving surgeries and support for over 6 million people across the North West. But the fight doesn’t end with surgery. New Start, an essential part of the Transplant Centre, provides ongoing support to patients and their families, ensuring they have the care they need every step of the way.
Last August my step dad Bayley passed away due to an illness in his lungs that he was born and suffered with and was in and out of hospital all of his life. And He had his lung transplant in 2022, and while he was having his transplant and healing in the hospital, me and my mum were able to stay in one of the bungalows that's on the campus. Since me and my family are from North Wales that was probably the second best thing that could have happened. Me and my mum were so grateful and I still think about our time there ever since, I can’t imagine what it would have been like if me and my mum weren’t able to stay there and be close to Bayley while he was going through that. So because of New Start me and my mum could visit him whenever we wanted while he was in recovery. The first best thing that happened was the transplant going successfully. Thanks to the heroes at the hospital and New Start Charity, me and my family were able to have more time with Bayley. I've seen firsthand how crucial this support is for those going through one of the most difficult times of their lives, and I want to help make sure that the Transplant Centre can continue to offer this lifeline. This cause means so much to me because I want to spread awareness and help families like me, my mum and big man Bayls. Music is my passion and definitely something I am still learning about. I have only ever performed twice since being in college, Bayley showed up and supported me and always did, so now for my 3rd and final college gig in honour of him.
