Mondweep Chakravorty is raising money for ACCB-NI
“Assam Floods Rehabilitation 2026”
We support educational, information literacy & skill development programme in the Northeast Indian state of Assam but not limited to the state. We sponsor an India-focused 'open access' social sciences journal to support the scholarly community. We provide grass-roots organisations with ICT and other support, including websites and web applications such as online learning platforms. One of our focuses is promoting early education in children's mother tongue in the context of the dominance of English.

Story

Help Bring Urgent Relief to Assam's Most Vulnerable

The devastating floods in Assam have left a lasting mark on our communities. While the waters may have peaked, the reality on the ground remains critical. As of 1 August 2026, 75 lives have been tragically lost, and nearly 179,000 individuals are still navigating the immediate aftermath of this disaster.

The Hidden Crisis: Reaching the Unreached

The most pressing challenge we face right now is outreach. Currently, over 167,000 affected individuals—more than 93% of the total—are surviving outside of formal relief camps. They are seeking refuge in informal shelters, severely damaged homes, or elevated areas, making them incredibly difficult to reach through centralised relief distribution.

Having spent so much time bridging our communities between the UK and Assam—from establishing collaborative foundations to championing our shared cultural and artistic heritage—I cannot simply stand by while the heartland suffers. The resilience of the Assamese people is profound, but right now, they need immediate, agile support to rebuild their foundations.

Where Your Money Goes:

Every pound raised will be directed towards verified, on-the-ground humanitarian efforts specifically targeting these dispersed, non-camp populations. Your donations will enable the rapid, flexible procurement of:

Essential Health Supplies: Life-saving medicines and water purification systems to prevent waterborne diseases.

Emergency Nutrition: Dry rations, clean drinking water, and baby food for families cut off in remote villages.

Shelter and Dignity: Tarpaulins, mosquito nets, and sanitary hygiene kits for those whose homes have been severely damaged or washed away.

Longer term rehabilitation: Adopting and supporting villages with medium to longer term rehabilitation

Whether you can spare a little or a lot, your contribution will make a tangible, immediate difference in restoring hope and stability to those who have lost so much.

Please donate what you can, and share this page with your network. Thank you for your generosity and for standing with Assam.
