Story
On Sunday, 9th November, my brother Jack will once again take on the original, authentic (and sometimes brutal!) Athens Marathon, and I’ll be cheering him on from the sidelines.
After four years working with Mazi in Athens, I’ve seen firsthand how important safe housing and consistent support are for young men seeking asylum in Greece. Mazi runs three apartments in the city, providing housing for around 40 young men each year. Alongside housing, the team helps residents access healthcare, develop skills, find work, and pursue their goals, supporting them to move on from camps, unstable accommodation, and homelessness.
Having worked directly with residents, I’ve seen the impact of this work up close: the stability and self-reliance that can be built when someone has a safe place to live. Mazi’s approach is grounded in care, choice, and community, all things that are essential for living happy and fulfilled lives.
This year, Mazi is hoping to raise enough to run one of its apartments through 2026. Your support will go directly toward keeping these homes open and the programme running.
After all, providing stable housing isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. 🏃♂️🏠
