I have been involved with Wag and Co since 2017 firstly with Angel Cassie and now with Maisie Moo and know at first hand what a difference a visit from a dog with its human makes to an elderly person no longer able to own a dog of their own. Loneliness is a killer in our society and an hour or two every week or every other week makes such a difference to someone’s life. Wag & Company is a registered charity operating across the North East of England. We enable professionally assessed volunteers and their special dogs to befriend older dog lovers who miss friendship and the company of a dog.

Over 50,000 older people in our region are lonely with the TV as their main form of company. Many have been dog lovers all their lives but now find themselves unable to care for a dog. Wag & Company volunteers are dog lovers too and know that it could just as easily be one of us or a family member; life changes fast. So, with just an hour or two a week we provide some company and that much missed love of a dog. By "Walking for Wag" you are helping to make sure this can happen regularly and safely for the elderly in need across our region.

The "Walk for Wag" is a beautiful 8km walk (with a 3km option which is wheelchair accessible with support) along the Lakeside at Derwent Reservoir.
