This summer Paul and I will be taking part in various tough endurance events in memory of Olive, our much loved mam and mother in law, to raise vital funds for Marie Curie. Olive was the backbone of our lives who is very much missed after dying from advanced bladder cancer and Alzheimer’s disease in March 23.

As a Palliative Care Nurse working at the Newcastle Marie Curie Hospice, Marie Curie is a charity we both hold very close to our hearts.

In May, we completed The Lap, a 47 mile ultramarathon with 9000ft elevation gain around Lake Windermere. A tough day out!

On 29th July we completed The Lakeland 50, another tough 50 mile ultramarathon with 10000ft elevation gain in The Lake District.

Paul then has a little time off while our daughter Olivia and I do the Great North Run, the biggest half marathon in the World.

At the end of September / early October, we will be fulfilling a lifelong goal of trekking to Everest Base Camp. Special thanks to Paul’s company Wessington Cryogenics who is helping with kit supply and some sponsorship.

And finally for event number 5, we are doing a local 55km ultra on the 22nd Oct as a little warm down!
