The Loch Lomond Rescue Boat is an independent volunteer lifeboat serving Loch Lomond and the surrounding shores. It was founded in 1977 from monies donated by an unknown sailor. The rescue boat attends around 100 callouts per year with some particularly busy days having as many as 7 or 8 callouts in a single day! The boat is crewed entirely by volunteers and is funded by donations.

Story

At the grand old age of 66 I will be water skiing on New Year’s Day to help raise funds for this local charity. It’s been 30 years or so since I last took part in this event and 5 years since I last water skied - and that was off a sunny beach in Mauritius, a far cry from the icy waters of the Loch. Will my knees hold up? The Loch Lomond Rescue Boat is an independent volunteer lifeboat serving Loch Lomond and the surrounding shores.
