Story

I’m fundraising £350 for The Lily Foundation to help fight mitochondrial diseases.

On Friday 24 October, I'm taking on a new version of the Goggins 4x4x48 challenge, involving an additional run during the night on Sunday when the clocks change! That's 52 miles in 48h. The last run starts at 14:00 on Sunday 26 October, battling not only through physical barrier but also mental and emotional challenges with sleep deprivation.

In March 2026, I’ll be running the Bath Half Marathon ( despite always saying I don’t do road races! ) I’ll be taking it on with friends from my running club and beyond, and alongside Caroline, whose daughter Hope has a rare and devastating mitochondrial disease.

Mitochondrial diseases affect the body’s ability to produce energy, leading to a wide range of debilitating and life-limiting symptoms. What shocked me most is that there is no UK research into this disease — yet children like Hope are living with it right now. Without research, there’s no hope for better treatments, let alone a cure.

The Lily Foundation is working tirelessly to change this: funding vital research, raising awareness, and supporting families like Hope’s. Every pound you give will helps the Lily Foundation fight for a future where no family has to face this alone.

Please consider donating. Even the smallest gift can help spark change and bring us closer to a cure. Together, we can give hope to those who need it most.

Please stand with us and fight Mitochondrial Disease and fight for hope.
