Story
This year, I am dedicating every training session, every bit of sports nutrition, recovery, blister, early morning, and every mile to Team Hope and The Lily Foundation.
I am running for Hope, the daughter of my friend Caroline. Hope is a true fighter who lives with a rare mitochondrial disease. This condition strips the body of its ability to produce energy; for Hope, this means using a wheelchair and requiring 24/7 care. Yet, she isn’t defined by her condition: she is defined by her radiant smile and her incredible determination to defy the odds.
The Endurance Challenges (April to December)
After a successful start to the year, completing the muddy 15-miler ARC of Attrition 12 in January and the Bath Half in March (raising a £922 for team Hope), I am now launching this new page to focus on the "Ultra" half of my 2026 journey.
My goal is to raise an additional £1,000 across these massive endurance events:
- 11 April: SheUltra 50k (Wales) my first ultra of the season.
- 3 May: Marlborough Downs Challenge: 33 miles of rugged terrain.
- 28 August: The Mercian Challenge aka the "Big One." 100 miles of hilly Offa’s Dyke in under 42 hours! This will be my longest run ever, my biggest challenge.
- there may be one or two other crazy challenges involving hills and/or little sleep that I haven't finalised yet
(TBC: I’ve also somehow been talked into my first-ever road marathon... after years of saying "never"! 🤫)
Why the Lily Foundation?
The Lily Foundation is a lifeline for families like Hope’s. They fund vital research into treatments and cures, and provide essential equipment, like Hope’s adapted running buggy, that allows her to feel the wind on her face and join her family on adventures. Most importantly, they ensure that no family has to face mitochondrial disease alone.
How you can help
I am pushing my physical and mental limits to the absolute edge because the families supported by The Lily Foundation face an uphill battle every single day.
I know times are tight, but if you could spare even the cost of a takeaway coffee, it will go directly toward finding a cure. Every "latte" donated brings me closer to this £1,000 goal and keeps my legs moving through the long training miles and will keep me locked in during the events.
Please stand with me, with Caroline, and with Team Hope.
Thank you for your incredible support!
Big love to all 🩷💜💚
