Hello, kind souls and fellow philanthropists!

I'm Austin and I’ve committed raise money to support an amazing charitable organisation: Street Child. https://street-child.org/aboutus/

I will be participating in not one, but two demanding events: the Copenhagen Marathon (May) and "The Big Ride" Marathon event in Belgium (June).

The Challenge Ahead:

* Copenhagen Marathon - A gruelling 42.2 kilometres (or 26.2 miles in old money) through the historic streets of Copenhagen, testing endurance, willpower and over-priced footwear.

* The Big Ride - Another Marathon as part of an exhilarating event in Belgium, where participants from all over the Liberty Global organisation come together to ride and run for change.

I'm a relatively new runner, having only completed my first 10k and Half-Marathon in the last year, but have been training tirelessly to be able to complete my FIRST (and second) EVER MARATHON.

Why Street Child Charity?

Here are some highlights which showcase Street Child's remarkable work:

* Education and Protection: By early 2022, over 51,000 children (50% girls) were attending Street Child learning centres every day in Afghanistan, despite the challenging political climate.

* Strategy for Impact: Street Child’s strategy for 2021-24 focuses on ensuring every child is ‘safe, in school, and learning’, particularly in the world’s toughest places. They aim to make a material impact on ‘a million’ children and influence ‘millions more’ through advocacy and support.

* Recognition for Literacy Efforts: In September 2022, Street Child was awarded The David M Rubenstein Prize by the Library of Congress for its outstanding contribution to increasing literacy levels in multiple parts of the world.

* Programs in Ukraine: In response to the war in Ukraine, Street Child partnered with local organizations to aid over 75,000 children, focusing on child protection, education support, and emergency aid.

* Support in West Africa: Street Child launched the “Education for Every Child Today” (EFECT) initiative in Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone, aiming to enrol and retain 96,000 primary-school-aged children in quality primary education by 2026.

Street Child’s dedication to creating a lasting impact on the lives of children in need around the world is remarkable. Every child deserves a chance at a better future, and Street Child works tirelessly to provide education, safety, and support to children who have no place to call home. They are the beacon of hope for these young lives, and I am proud to be a part of their noble cause.
