Story
My name is Faith and I am a student at Bishop Burton College, and I am studying animal management.
I am raising funds to help fund and raise awareness for people who have autism and how animal therapy can help people who have ASD. This walk means a lot to me as some of my family have autism and I know that animals can understand how to assist people who have ASD and allow them to relax. Animals are highly intelligent and will understand when someone needs extra time and space and allows people to enjoy seeing animals that they won’t see often. Any money that is donated will be given directly to the charity, as people with ASD deserve the opportunity to experience, once in a lifetime experience and have people who understand how to assist them and make them feel comfortable in the environment.
About the Challenge: The Pilgrim’s Walk is a pilgrims trail to the Black Madonna in her cathedral in Candelaria, the religious heart of the Canaries. The walk starts at La Crucita at 2000 mts, higher than anywhere in the UK and descends through lava flows, pine forests, vineyards, ancient towns and villages. At the end of the walk , which is an old leyline, in exchange for honouring her the Madonna will grant them a wish. It is an aruous trek but truly magical, in many ways. It is roughly a 5 hour walk.
