Story
In June 2023, I received the devastating news that my dearest mentor and friend Air Marshal David Walker had tragically died from the most aggressive form of brain cancer. Fighter pilot, compassionate leader, and one of the greatest thinkers of his generation, his loss continues to be felt acutely by many.
Without David taking a chance on me, as quite a junior ‘rough around the edges’ officer, I simply would not be where I am today. I owe him more than I can ever repay, and every painful mile of training to highlight his cause and to help others will never be enough.
At only 66 years old, having been diagnosed less than a year earlier, David and his wife Catherine gave everything to conquer this cruel disease. They never gave up hope, despite so little focus on, and progress with, curing less survivable cancers. So, I want to do something to raise awareness of Catherine’s tremendous work campaigning to give others ‘The Right to Hope’ (https://the-right-to-hope.org/), whilst raising money to support individuals and families struggling with their own diagnosis.
In true Shaun tradition, I have let work get in the way of creating this page earlier, so please give generously - and quickly - to help meet my charity target 😊 Thank you 🙏
