Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been a supporter of this charity for many years, and sponsor 3 children who attend the school and one who is now at University. I can assure you that the money you donate will go to the intended cause. I visit the school and see the transformation occurring in the lives of many children.
Seven years ago I found out that students were dropping out of school as they couldn't pay for their exams. I wanted to try and address this, so I requested a list of students at Africa with Love School who coudn't pay due to hardship in their families, and tried to raise funds so they could be registered to take their national exams. We have done very well with meeting this need and I am hopeful we will do so again in 2023.
This year the amount needed for all students needing help to be registered is £4700, this is going to be a HUGE challenge. But I want to make it possible for people to chip in, and together all of the money raised will go to registering students. Money is needed by the end of March 2023.
Students are eligible to take either end of primary school exams (needed to progress to secondary school) or the equivalent GCSE or A Level's. Without funding from us, they are highly likely to drop out of school as there is simply no other way forward for them to get the money needed, which I find very hard to take.
We need to try to support the following students:
60 students in P7 (end of primary) @ £20 per student
54 students in S4 (like GCSE) @ £50 per student
10 students in S6 (like A Level) @ £50 per student
If you are able to make a donation &/or spread the word that would be wonderful. If you donate and pay tax please click gift aid as this will increase your donation by 25% at no extra cost to you.
The school in rural Uganda is excellent, and with committed teachers and pupils, we had a 100% pass rate in 2022, as in previous years. Students know that their exams are a huge opportunity for them. Without the fund raising efforts and the kindness of those who donated these students would be in a vulnerable position, with an uncertain future. But instead they have been able to continue with their education, and have a chance at a working towards a more stable future. If you can help again this year, please give what you can. I appreciate times are hard, and there are many calls on your money. But I believe in the power of kindness and education. We can make a difference for these children and young people. Thank you for your time and consideration, both from me, and from the students who you will be helping, they will be forever grateful for your support.
