About The Rachel Yankey Foundation

The Rachel Yankey Foundation is a community-focused charity dedicated to empowering young girls through football, mentoring and personal development. Founded by former Arsenal and England international Rachel Yankey OBE, the Foundation exists to create safe, inclusive environments where girls aged 11–16 can become part of supportive communities, build confidence, develop life skills and realise their potential both on and off the pitch through their shared love of football.

At the heart of the Foundation’s approach is the belief that representation matters. Programmes are provided free or at low cost, primarily in areas where low socio-economic provision and diverse communities are prevalent, to remove barriers to participation wherever possible. By connecting young people with relatable female role models, the Foundation inspires girls to believe in themselves, build resilience and aspire to leadership in sport and beyond.

Through grassroots football delivery, mentoring projects, school partnerships, community workshops and player-led initiatives, the Foundation’s mission is to create clear pathways for girls into volunteering, coaching, further sport participation and leadership roles within their communities.
