In the holy month of Ramadan, my friends and I are taking on a charity hike to raise funds for Human Appeal's 100 smiles Project- a mission to sponsor 100 orphans and give them the chance for a better life.

We believe that every child deserves a chance to thrive- to have food, shelter, education, and the opportunity to build a better life. There are an estimated 153 million orphans worldwide, with 5,700 more children becoming orphans every single day. Many face hunger, disease, exploitation and a cycle of poverty they cannot break alone.

Why this matters to us:

This challenge is deeply personal for us. We wanted to push ourselves this Ramadan-not just spiritually but physically by taking on this hike on the 27th of March across the Seven Sisters Cliff while fasting as a test of our dedication and commitment to a cause bigger than ourselves. Our way of making a real sacrifice for those who need us most.

But beyond that this cause is close to our hearts as we honour the memory of my dear friend’s mother Amina Jama Farah who passed away years ago. Our goal is to be able to sponsor an orphan in her name so that even in her absence, she continues to bring love and support to an orphan. Through your donations, we we would like to bring blessings and rewards to her soul continuing her legacy of love and kindness.

With every step we take, we will be thinking of the children who walk miles every day in search of food, water and education. we'll be thinking of the orphans who go to sleep hungry, uncertain of what tomorrow will bring. And we'll be thinking of the lives we can change together.
