The 10,000 Steps a Day in July challenge is a great way in which you can improve your fitness and also raise vital funds and awareness for The UK Sepsis Trust.

Story

Hi Everyone,

As you may know, I faced a life-threatening battle with sepsis and septic shock in 2019 due to a misdiagnosis by my GP. This experience left me seriously ill and uncertain about my survival. Thankfully, I emerged from this ordeal thanks to an incredible team of doctors, supportive friends, and my amazing family.

Since that time, I have navigated many changes to my health. A couple of years ago, during one of the most challenging periods, I reached out to the UK Sepsis Trust. Their support and guidance were invaluable as I sought clarity on what had happened to me and the new challenges I was facing. They empowered me with knowledge about sepsis and post-sepsis syndrome, helping me learn how to manage these challenges effectively.

Did you know that around 48,000 people die from sepsis every year in the UK? Many others are left with life-changing injuries due to misdiagnoses and a lack of awareness surrounding this condition. This is why I have pledged to walk 10,000 steps each day in July for the UK Sepsis Trust—to raise funds for their vital awareness work among the public and health professionals, as well as the support they provide to survivors and families who have lost loved ones.

Those who are familiar with my journey understand that even taking 100 steps a day would have been impossible for me just a year ago. I am profoundly grateful for my progress so far. Although completing 10,000 steps daily will be a challenge for me, I am determined to achieve this goal!

I kindly ask for your support in this endeavor. Any donation you can make would be greatly appreciated as we work together towards raising £1,500 for this important cause.

In the meantime, please take a moment to educate yourself about sepsis for your own wellbeing and that of your family—sepsis does not discriminate and can escalate rapidly: https://sepsistrust.org
