Story

Thank you to everyone who came to my last show at The Bedford where we raised a whopping £3,100 for the St. George’s Hospital charity oncology fund. I was completely blown away by everyone’s support and generosity. I am delighted to be hosting my next charity fundraiser on 28th November back at The Bedford.

The St. George’s Hospital oncology care is world class and I am so thankful to have this amazing hospital just down the road. I am a local Mum of three young children, and was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2022. Following chemotherapy, surgery, a heavy dose of singing & songwriting, and incredible support from family and friends, I am currently cancer free.

Thank you also to my GP at Balham Park Surgery for your expert clinical care and advice. Please take the time to make an appointment to see your GP if you feel that something isn’t right, or not normal for you, and don’t shy away from any seemingly unpleasant potentially life saving tests.

Symptoms of bowel cancer include (this is the list from the Australian Cancer Council website, which I found more accurately detailed the combination of symptoms that I was experiencing):

-change in bowel habit including diarrhoea, constipation or the feeling of incomplete emptying

-a change in the appearance or consistency of bowel movements such as thin bowel stoolsblood in the stools

-abdominal pain, bloating or cramping

-anal or rectal pain

-a lump in the anus or rectum

-weight loss

-unexplained fatigue tiredness and/or anaemia (pale complexion, weakness and breathlessness)

-blood in the urine or passing urine frequently or during the night, change in urine colour – dark, rusty or brown

Please consider making a donation to this amazing charity which is very close to my heart.
