Pilgrimage in a Pool

We strive to be a Eucharist-centred, diverse and inclusive Christian community promoting life in abundance, wellbeing and dignity for all. We offer hospitality to people going through homelessness and speak out on issues of injustice, concerning refugees, earth, racial justice, and LGBTQ+ issues.

Story

On 1-2 September a group from St James's Piccadilly will be going on retreat. A time of refreshment, rest and prayer can transform people's lives for the better, especially in a busy city.

The retreat costs £5700. The church is heavily subsidising this and offering free places to people with no recourse to public funds and who are on low income. We need £2000 to 'fill the gap', so I'm going on a pilgrimage in a pool!

It takes c.24 hours to walk 60 miles from London to Canterbury. In July and August I'll be swimming for 24 hours (not consecutively, because that would be silly) as a 'pilgrimage in the pool'.

Financial circumstances should not be a barrier to enjoying a retreat together as a community. People under pressure often benefit most from a restful, prayerful break. Please be as generous as possible!
