Pilgrimage in a Pool

St James's aspires to be a home where everyone can belong. We offer hospitality to people going through homelessness and speak out on issues of injustice, especially concerning refugees, asylum, racial justice, and LGBTQ+ issues.

Story

On 1-2 September a group from St James's Piccadilly will be going on retreat. A time of refreshment, rest and prayer can transform people's lives for the better, especially in a busy city.

The retreat costs £5700. The church is heavily subsidising this and offering free places to people with no recourse to public funds and who are on low income. We need £2000 to 'fill the gap', so I'm going on a pilgrimage in a pool!

It takes c.24 hours to walk 60 miles from London to Canterbury. In July and August I'll be swimming for 24 hours (not consecutively, because that would be silly) as a 'pilgrimage in the pool'.

Financial circumstances should not be a barrier to enjoying a retreat together as a community. People under pressure often benefit most from a restful, prayerful break. Please be as generous as possible!
