Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Earlier this month, my Mémé died after having cancer. Towards the end of her life, she was cared for at home by Martlets nurses who helped make it possible for her to die with dignity, surrounded by the people she loved. I will always be incredibly grateful for the care and kindness they gave her.
At the same time, I’m watching someone else I love become increasingly unwell in a hospice, and I’m having to face the heartbreak of saying goodbye again.
These experiences have made me think deeply about how important hospice care is. We don’t get to choose when or how our lives end, but hospices can give people dignity at the end of their lives. They can take away some of the fear, pain, and loneliness, not only for the person who is ill, but for their families and loved ones too.
That is something I believe we should cherish and support.
So, I’m taking part in the Night to Remember 2026, walking 10 miles through the night to raise money for the Southern Hospice Group.
Southern Hospice Group is a local charity made up of three much-loved hospices: Chestnut Tree House, Martlets, and St Barnabas House. Together, they support children, young people, and adults with life-limiting conditions, as well as the families and loved ones around them. Their expert palliative care is provided both in their hospices and in people’s homes across Sussex and South East Hampshire.
I’m walking for my Mémé, for the people I love, and for everyone who deserves compassionate, dignified care at the end of their life.
If you’re able to donate, however much, I would be incredibly grateful. ❤️
Thank you for reading, sharing, donating, or simply supporting me.
