VIN Clubs 15K Charity Walk in support of RACET - Rural Africa Children's Education Trust · 28 September 2024

VIN Club's 10th Anniversary fundraising campaign is supporting RACET's goal to get 100 bright students from challenging backgrounds in rural Nigeria into highly skilled professional university courses such as Medicine, Engineering, Law and Computing.

Story

In the communities where RACET works, poverty is endemic. Most villagers are subsistence farmers or fishermen living hand to mouth who struggle with the bare essentials of life. In this context, parents are forced to choose which, if any, of their children receive secondary education. Frequently boys are favoured over girls. RACET works to ensure female students have equal access to education at both secondary and university levels.

In order to improve the quality of education available in this remote area, RACET has provided three learning centres equipped with 30 computers, all solar powered and containing digital courses in maths, sciences and computing. The provision of this technology has resulted in more students passing their secondary school leaving exams and gaining admission to university.

RACET currently supports 26 university students, but with the assistance of VIN Club and the Inspiring Futures Fund, you can help RACET increase that number to 100 university students.
