Addiction Family Support was established by Elizabeth Burton-Phillips who lost one of her twin sons, Nick, to heroin. Open to anyone who is affected or bereaved by a loved one's harmful use of alcohol, drugs or gambling. Our helpline 0300 888 3853 gives more information about our services.

Story

This years Baby Boy Byfield fundraiser will be raising money for a cause incredibly close to my own heart, Addiction Family Support, a charity supporting people affected or bereaved by a loved ones harmful use of alcohol, drugs, or gambling.

The charity is small and any donation, big or small, funny name or otherwise (mainly otherwise, the comedic standards of the joestephenson96 maniac are at an all time low), makes an enormous difference.

*£20 funds a telephone Helpline call

*£50 funds a month of Support Group meetings for one client

*£100 provides group support for a bereaved client

*£400 funds a full 5-Step Method one-to-one programme

*£1,000 provides 50 hours of Helpline support

Please include Gift Aid if you can, it costs you nothing extra and last year helped Refuge make an additional £1000 from the fundraiser

By donating to the Baby Boy Byfield fundraiser you are helping provide emotional and practical support to families and individuals throughout the UK and making a positive difference to both their health and wellbeing. The charity provides a 7 day a week helpline, email support, one to one and group support as well as bereavement support and more.

When looking at the amount of total substance misuse budgets were allocated to families in 2025, the national average amongst local authorities in England was a mere 1.58%- meaning that the work charities like Addiction Family Support, who receive zero government funding, do is of crucial importance.

Last years winner was 'Actually Good' Chris Wood, but the real winner was the memories we made along the way and the money we all raised for charity. Hopefully the same can be said for this year, but with 'Carlisle United's Paul Dummett' as the winner instead.
