Story

Saturday October 14th 2023

Shibden Wall x 25 , Trooper Lane x 25

On October 26th 2018 our daughter Kalliapeteira was Stillborn just two weeks before her due date.

As we held Kallipateira in our arms we made her a promise that we would do her proud and continue her legacy by helping to support other parents who have experienced the death of a baby/babies , and also to save babies lives by supporting research and through awareness in the UK.

October 26th 2023 will be Kallipateira's 5th Birthday and on this Baby Loss Awareness week I will put my trainers back on for a special one day event to raise funds for Professor Alex Heazell and his team in Manchester at the Tommy's Rainbow Clinic and Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre.

Due to the love . care and pioneering research of Alex and his team our son Apollon Alexandros ( now aged 3) survived.

On Baby Loss Awareness Week 2021 I walked Trooper Lane 50 Times in one day , and last year I walked Shibden Wall 50 times.

During this baby loss awareness week on Saturday 14th October I will walk Shibden Wall 25 times and also Trooper Lane 25 times.

Shibden Wall was part of The Tour De Yorkshire 2017.

Shibden Wall is a real brute of a climb. Half a mile averaging 15% is hard enough, but throw in some tough cobbles, and it makes it a real classic climb. It starts off on tarmac, but the cobbles will soon start.

The Shibden Wall (Lee Lane) is ALL of that at 15% average grade over its 900 meters. This climb is the only cobbled road in Yorkshire of Simon Warren's 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs.

Trooper Lane is a short, steep cobbled climb in Halifax. It makes a good claim to be the toughest cobbled climb in the Yorkshire area – possibly the whole of England.

Trooper Lane

Distance: 0.4 miles

Average gradient: 18%

Height gain: 125 metres

Many cyclists have described it as hell.

In July I walked 206 miles nonstop from Edinburgh Castle to Manchester in 55 hours . I am coming off some bad injuries sustained during the event and it is a risk doing this event. For Kallipateira and to mark her 5th Birthday I will do this and to raise vital funds for Alex and the team.

October brings us further pain and dates that we will never forget but knowing by doing this event it helps other families then it is worth doing.

Thank you for your support.
