The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides comfort to victims of disasters and works with the international Red Cross and Red Crescent network, which launched into action Monday, February 6. following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Türkiye. The earthquake caused major damage in both Türkiye and Syria. Red Crescent teams in the region have sprung into action, providing hot meals and drinks, collecting and shipping blood to the impacted areas as well as providing psychosocial support.
With freezing temperatures and snow falling, the Turkish Red Crescent and Syrian Arab Red Crescent are working diligently to support the rapidly changing needs on the ground as the devastation continues to unfold. Rescue teams are working in the hardest-hit areas where survivors remain trapped under rubble.
