Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi I’m Bailey, I’m 14.
This is my 6th year of raising vital funds for Brian House Children’s Hospice based in my local town of Blackpool.
Every Halloween we decorate our house, it takes a few days to get set up as I have hundreds of spooky decorations which the children who visit love to see. I also visit Halloween House (Europe’s largest Halloween Store) each year near Birmingham I spend hours in there! They kindly donate bags of goods which I drop off at Brian House for them to decorate the hospice, the children love to see it decorated and it brings a smile to everyone.
The reason I begun to raise money is because we get lots of trick or treaters, now we have around 500! And people used to say “you should collect for charity and have a collection bucket.” I spend weeks preparing for the day, blowing up balloons and making up little party bags, which I give out to every child who comes to trick or treat on Halloween.
This year I’d love to raise £1202.79, this would be the most I have ever raised, and would make the grand total £4000. Last year my total was £1029.57. This amount was made up from donations on here, trick or treaters on the night, charity donation boxes left in local businesses and my raffle which I do live on Halloween night through my mums facebook. Very kind local businesses and friends and family donate fantastic prizes.
As I’ve got older I realise just how much fundraising helps keep our children’s hospice open, to provide day care and overnight stays for children across the Fylde Coast who need the services. No matter how short the children’s lives or how their diagnosis affects their life making it very limiting for them, you can be assured that when they visit Brian House they have a fantastic time, and make memories that will last a lifetime for them and their families. And they need to raise over 1 million pounds per year just to keep operating. All services are provided free to local families and anyone could find themselves one day requiring the help they provide.
Finally I’m so excited to be a finalist for this year’s young achiever of the year award, at the local hero awards ceremony this October. Please donate anything if you can, no matter how small I truly appreciate every penny and donating through here the money goes straight to Brian House who will keep me updated of my total.
Thank you so much for reading my story.
Love Bailey x
