Story

Braving the Shave – for the Bravest People I Know

On August 17th, I’ll be sitting down in front of friends, family, customers, and colleagues from The Park View, The Pier View, and the rest of our pub family… and I’ll be shaving off my hair. Yep. All of it. Gone.

Why? Because compared to what people go through when facing cancer, losing a bit of hair is nothing.

This One’s for the Fighters

Every day, people I know and love are facing cancer head-on. I’ve lost friends and family to this cruel disease, and I’ve stood on the sidelines feeling helpless — until a McMillan nurse walks through the door.

These nurses are the unsung heroes. They’re there in the hardest moments: at diagnosis, through treatment, and when families don’t know where to turn. One conversation with a McMillan nurse can offer hope, clarity, and strength when it’s needed most.

Right now, as I write this, customers and friends are fighting. They’re going through treatment. They’re holding on to hope. And I want to do something — even if it’s just sitting in a chair and letting someone take clippers to my head.

🍻 Pub Power, People Power

If you’ve ever visited The Park View, The Pier View, or any of the pubs I have the pleasure of working with, you’ll know we’re a community. We pull pints, share stories, and look out for one another. So I’m calling on you — the regulars, the rookies, the friends, the family, and even that one guy who only ever orders a lime and soda — to dig deep and donate what you can.

No pressure. No guilt. Just good old-fashioned community spirit and a very bald me at the end of it.

The Goal

Let’s raise as much as we can to help McMillan Nurses keep doing what they do best: being a lifeline for those affected by cancer.

Whether it’s £2 or £20, every penny matters — and every donation is another reason I’ll be proud to rock my new (breezy) hairstyle come August 17th.

Donate, Share, Support

If you can’t donate, please share this page. And if you can donate… well, know that you’re helping to make a very real difference. Plus, you get to laugh at the photos of me mid-shave, looking like a cross between a monk and a freshly hatched chick. Win-win.

Thanks for your support — let’s do something amazing together. 💚
