All genres, all generations, all welcome: on Friday March 6 at The Attic Bar, Bristol, Kathika, Maddy V, MARIA and Abi Nyxx head up a sense-slapping line-up from the wide st rollcall of prominent party slayers.
Festival favourites Rua Tui will be providing the beats to a full showcase of all MCs going mic-to-mic live on stage together for the first time ever. Joining them will be disruptive Scouse Spaniard Glitchgirl whose genre-melting sets brings all the ADHD ravers to the yard, new-gen firebrand Chez who’s smashing up the place on wax as a singer and on stage as a deadly DJ, new-gen MC maverick who’s Radio 1 presenter Charlie T’s MC of choice Savvy B. Plus a secret special guest!
There’s more: BANSHEE will be soundtracked with takeovers from Full Spectrum’s Sekhmet and Asha Binks, Thick Boy Records’ DJ Business Lady & Direct Debbie and a very special b2b from 1 More Thing founder/Vision Radio host NoDave and Fireworks Factory, a masked mercenary, super-charged with Queer rave energy who cut one of most striking debuts last year.
With all proceeds from the night going to Refuge.org.uk - a vital organisation who empower women to live without violence and fear – this event is a mission statement for the year ahead. If we’re not using our platform for positive change, progress and the continual breakdown of patriarchal power, greed and abuse then we’re as bad as the rest of them.
Come and join us for an affordable night of unity, activation and boundary-smashing positivity. At times as turbulent as these, it’s a flex to show to such defiance and do so to raise money for those who need it most.
And watch out because this is so much more than a one-off event. It’s also part of a very special release we’re moments away from announcing. Just as the traditional Irish Banshee heralded a death in the house, this BANSHEE soundtracks the final gasps of patriarchal control, abuse and greed all women fight daily. Both within underground rave music and in all aspects of life.
