Story
All the projects have a primary aim and focus of supporting and educating the children with disabilities at the Amani Centre. Each year when I visit, I am quite amazed at how many children and families are being helped by this one organisation.
I have been looking through the photos (of which there are thousands!!) It is amazing what has been achieved with your help and support…
Last year, at the school for the children with hearing impairments, we were able to build a BIO-DIGESTER as well as a new KITCHEN. This has enabled them to convert animal and vegetable waste into methane. They are now able to cook for the children and staff, without cutting down trees!! We also set up a MARKET GARDEN to grow vegetables for sale in neighbouring towns.
In 2023 we were able to buy a piece of land and build a ‘MAABARA’, a laboratory to enable testing of various conditions, including malaria and UTIs. The children, as well as members of the local community, can now be tested on site, making diagnosis and treatment much speedier.
In 2022 we undertook repairs and refurbishment of the TRACTOR, (European prices!!!) which included the purchase of tractor tyres and a new plough. The tractor is vital to the food production on the farm.
Each year we have also provided some general food and medicine supplies as well as providing additional money for maintenance tasks, such as painting the rooves of the school, as well as equipment for the physiotherapy rooms.
This year I would like to focus on getting some new PHYSIOTHERAPY EQUIPMENT for the treatment rooms at Chamwino. The physios have sent me a shopping list which includes items such as three patella hammers and a trampoline. There is always so much to do... And none of it could be achieved without your help.
Thank you for your support......
