Barbara Doherty MBE is fundraising for Isabel Hospice

Barbara Doherty MBE is raising money for Isabel Hospice
Isabel Hospice exists to journey alongside people during some of life's most difficult times. Offering expert compassionate care, advice and support those living with progressive, life-limiting illnesses. Our care is free of charge to those who need it, but it is not without cost.

Story

From 7th -15th May 2026 I am walking The Herriot Way with my sister Jill McArthur to raise much needed funds for Isabel Hospice. The Herriot Way is a 52 mile walk in the Yorkshire Dales, starting and ending at Aysgarth Falls and passing through Askrigg, Hawes, Keld and Reeth and crossing the Coast to Coast Path and the Pennine Way, This walk is inspired by James Herriot the famous Yorkshire Vet and takes in some of the best valley and moorland scenery England has to offer.

Isabel Hospice provides outstanding palliative care and support to the 370,000 people who live in eastern Hertfordshire. Hospice care is about helping people to live well for as long as possible and have a good death in the place of their choice when the time comes. Without your help, we could not make this possible for our patients and their families. Each year we care for over 2,000 people but we know there are even more people that need our help.I hope you will support me in providing this vital care to our community.
