Northern Ireland spent two years without government and our schools suffered greatly. None more so than our special schools who care for our most vulnerable students.

One of those is my son Zachary. He is in Year 8 at Longstone Special School in Dundonald and it is truly the most wonderful, nurturing and forward thinking establishment I've ever encountered. Their passion to give the children every opportunity is nothing short of miraculous, given that they are working with such little money.

For this 18 month Challenge am taking on twelve sprint distance triathlons - one a month in 2024 - and also ice swims which I hope to do in March if we can get cold enough water! The water must be 5c or under to complete this. I'm signed up for Belfast Marathon in May 2025 and to mark this I will be carrying memory ribbons on my top. A small donation means I will add your loved ones name to my 26 mile list. I haven't undertaken a marathon since Dublin 2019, just two weeks after my Father passed away, and I'm not shy in saying I'm pretty scared! I will carry many memories with me and the support of my children.
