Story
We’re BARCH Richmond, a small independent gym in London, and every December we support Cocoon, Care After Care — a local charity that helps young adults who have grown up in the care system and are now trying to make it on their own.
A care leaver is someone aged 16–25 who has come through foster care or residential care. When they turn 18, most of their support drops away, and many of them spend Christmas completely alone. Cocoon step in where the system doesn’t — helping with housing, bills, food, life admin, and giving these young adults the support most people get from family.
Every year Cocoon hosts a Christmas Day for care leavers who would otherwise spend the day on their own. They go all out to make it special, and we want to help them do that again.
Our challenge:
On Saturday 14th December, our members are taking on a 12-hour endurance day at BARCH.
Every hour, on the hour, for 12 hours straight, we’ll move for 30 minutes — walking or running — then rest for 30 minutes before the next hour begins.
It’s simple, it’s tough, and it’s something we can all do together to show support for an incredible charity.
If you choose to donate, thank you — it genuinely makes a difference for young people who need it.
