Story
We’re taking on the 2026 Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge!
The Barfoots Commercial Team is gearing up for a 9 hour adventure challenge across the mountains, lakes, and forests of the Peak District, and we need your help! Our goal is to raise £5,000 for Farm Africa to support farmers on the frontline of climate change across eastern Africa.
Why Farm Africa?
Over half of the world’s extreme poor live in sub-Saharan Africa, most working in agriculture. Farm Africa helps these farmers grow more, sell more, and thrive, creating lasting change for themselves, their children, and their communities.
They do this by:
• Teaching climate-smart farming techniques to make farms resilient to droughts and floods.
• Providing training, loans, and access to markets so farmers can run sustainable businesses.
• Supporting women and young people, giving them the skills and opportunities to transform their communities.
• Protecting the environment, ensuring farming today doesn’t compromise tomorrow.
Florence’s story
Florence, who lives in northern Uganda, used to struggle to feed her family. Most families eat only what they grow, and droughts made food scarce.
After joining a Farm Africa Farmers Group, Florence learned to grow a wider variety of crops and adopt climate-smart farming methods. She now sells her produce directly to buyers, boosting her income. The group’s savings and loans scheme helped her pay school fees on time, so her children can stay in school.
Now, Florence’s children are healthier, she feels hopeful about the future, and she dreams of sending her children to secondary school and building a home for her family.
How your donation helps
