Story
Throughout our time in NICU with our youngest daughter, support was always available. The Emily Harris Foundation consistently turns up for those in at Mansfield Kings Mill NICU. Providing support in all forms, from the simple things like setting up activities and resources for our oldest daughter to be entertained when visiting, snacks for the family and meal vouchers, to longer term support such as counselling, training and hardship funds.
Listening to Clare’s story and the memory of Emily that lives on made me want to give something back. It was evident this support was not just brilliant for me and my family but for everyone that was there.
In June I will be running my first ultra marathon and the first time I’ve ran more than a half marathon. If you can give anything towards this cause it will be appreciated greatly by those families unfortunate to start their journey in the NICU.
The Emily Harris Foundation was established in 2008 in memory of Emily who had spent much of her short life on the Neonatal Unit at King's Mill Hospital. Emily's mummy and daddy, Clare and Neil, wanted to show their appreciation for all the care they had received as a family and set up the charity to help make life a little easier for other families who find themselves with a baby or babies on the Neonatal Unit.
