Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I’m taking on the Beverley 10KM run on the 10th of May, dressed as the M.A.S.H Mascot BARNY — a 7 foot bear — to raise funds for M.A.S.H (Military Assistance Social Hub), a charity based in the East Riding of Yorkshire that supports veterans, serving personnel, and their families.
M.A.S.H works to combat social isolation within the Armed Forces community while also providing practical and immediate support to those facing difficult circumstances. They provide free office space and consultation rooms to local and national charities, helping ensure that individuals receive the best-fit support rather than simply the first support available, allowing them to access the most appropriate services for their needs under one roof.
They provide free to access safe social spaces, lunch clubs, wellbeing activities, with crisis support, and signposting to specialist services available. Through regular hubs in Beverley, Hornsea, Leven, Bridlington and at the Defence School of Transport, along with outreach work and projects such as their mobile Camo Café, they reach individuals who might otherwise struggle to access help — particularly those living in rural areas.
Their unique “Conversations Through Activities” approach helps people open up naturally through shared activities, building trust and allowing support to be offered when it’s needed most.
The funds raised will help M.A.S.H continue delivering this vital support, providing meals, activities, outreach, and practical help to some of the most vulnerable members of the Armed Forces community.
Any support you can give will make a real difference. Thank you for helping ensure that no one is left behind.
I have been given a 1½-hour cut-off to complete the run, but I’m hoping to get over the line in just over an hour.
