This is something we do every year, but this year in particular is especially important. As if things weren't bad enough with inflation and lost jobs, a government shutdown went on for weeks while which people needing food assistance were explicitly used as pawns in a political showdown. Families were literally denied food aid to promote an agenda.

While the politicians were grandstanding, food charities like Second Harvest were carrying the burden. Second Harvest has a perfect score in Charity Navigator (charitynavigator.org) for transparency and effectiveness, and it's all because people like you support their work. Food banks' reserves have been severely depleted, but we can do what politicians won't... actually HELP people.
