72-Hole Golf Marathon! · 15 July 2024

We fundraise to buy equipment, fund major projects, desensitise the medical environment and buying a new ambulance for the Children's Intensive Care Unit at Southampton University Hospital. Caring for critically ill children from across the south of England and the Channel Islands.

Story

Helping to support the NHS and provide the very best of care to Critically ill Children and their families at the regional Intensive Care Unit at Southampton University Hospital. The unit cares for children from across the South of England and Channel Islands.

I, along with my colleague Sam, will be partaking in a 72-Hole Challenge at Boundary Lakes Golf Club. Four rounds of golf, one after the other, which is the equivalent of a MARATHON.

The average round of golf is 6.6 miles. So we'll be covering approximately 26.4 miles across one day, not to mention all the shanked balls into water, all the bunkers we'll inevitably find, the missed greens, walking back across the fairway after hooking it off the other side. With our ability, it's likely to be 35 miles.

Why are we putting ourselves through this golf-gauntlet? Well we both believe in the incredible work done by Friends of PICU and want to do everything we can to help them. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will make a tangible impact on the lives of children and families facing unimaginable challenges. It could provide essential medical equipment, fund groundbreaking research, or offer much-needed support services to those in need.
