Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In September 2026 I am taking on the Chillswim 11 mile end to end swim of Lake Windemere!
Having paralysed my right arm playing rugby back in 2000, one of the ways I have managed to keep myself involved in sport is swimming and over the years I have learnt to swim with just the one arm. Now I am preparing to take on my biggest challenge yet in the form of England's longest swim, 11 miles (18 Kilometres) in Lake Windemere. Granted it is only one length but it is a mighty 11 mile length! I wonder, do they do 11 mile badges I can sew onto my trunks 🤔
I have recently become associated with the RFU Injured players Foundation who are set up to support people, just like myself, who have seriously injured themselves playing rugby. This is such a valuable charity to help people get on with their lives after sustaining life changing injuries, and provide them with all sorts of support to help them deal with everything. Having been in that position, I well know and understand the dark days after these types of injuries and the impact they have, not only on the lives of the injured one, but also their families and friends, so anything I can raise to help support the IPF is going to a cause very personal to me.
A swim of this distance is no mean feat for any swimmer but taking it on with one arm is going to truly push me to my limits. I am sure I will have plenty of dark moments during the training and during the event itself, so knowing I can raise some money for the IPF will really help spur me on and any donations will be very welcomed.
