Plymouth Half Marathon · 11 May 2025

Inflammatory Neuropathies UK is dedicated to helping people impacted by GBS, CIDP, MMN, and over 40 other Inflammatory Neuropathies. We provide information & support (personal grants, counselling, peer support), advocate & raise awareness, and help to fund & facilitate research.

Story

My wife Helen is recovering from Guillain-Barré syndrome which has meant hospitalisation since mid-November 2024. I have chosen to fundraise for INUK, the only charity in the UK that supports sufferers of Guillain-Barré syndrome. Your kind donations will help others to deal with this rare condition. I will be running the Plymouth Half Marathon on 11 May 2025 in support of the INUK charity.

Guillain-Barré syndrome is a rare autoimmune condition affecting the peripheral nervous system, usually leading to temporary or long-term paralysis. Around 80% of those with GBS will make a good recovery, but between 5-10% of people will not survive and the other 10-15% may be left with severe mobility or dexterity issues. INUK helps people understand and manage both acute and chronic variants of the syndrome, raises awareness, and promotes clinical and non-clinical research into these conditions.

Thank you for reading and your help is hugely appreciated.
