Story
I am hoping to raise at least £1,406 by completing a 1,406km challenge—the distance between Land's End and John o'Groats.
I'm raising money for the new Love Your Countryside campaign from APRS (Action to Protect Rural Scotland). My colleagues' fundraising efforts so far have inspired me to take on my own challenge. Hopefully, this will also help my overall fitness and let me explore my local countryside. I'm lucky to live close to part of the John Muir Way, so I will be looking to see some of this through the challenge.
I'll be walking and cycling as part of the fundraiser, logging activities on a virtual challenge app to keep track of everything. Any donations will help push me towards the next step of the challenge - and it would be great if you could support me. But, if you can't support the challenge financially, words of encouragement or sharing the fundraiser will certainly help too.
The challenge must be completed by August 31st 2024, which allows for a bad winter, but I'm already starting to think I have bitten off more than I can chew. I have only really prepared to do this by completing a few short cycles on the second-hand ebike I bought recently🤣
About APRS
Anyone who gives £40 or more will also receive a membership of APRS as a thank you!
APRS is a small organisation and campaign to protect, enhance and promote Scotland’s countryside and rural landscapes for everyone’s benefit. They help support local people to protect local nature from unsustainable development through the Green Belt Alliance. They also campaign for Scotland's national parks, against littering and raising awareness of how vital the countryside is for people in Scotland.
You can find out more about the Love Your Countryside campaign from the APRS website.
