Story
Supporting Friends Fighting Cancer – Team Ace
I was encouraged to sign up by my friend and teammate James Cork and was, as I say, “voluntold” by my wife to get involved. What started as a push to take part quickly became something far more meaningful. Along the way, it kick-started my weight-loss journey — losing nearly 3 stone so I could play — while supporting an incredible charity.
I am proud to be playing for Team Ace 🧡
In December 2022, during a Christmas holiday to Barbados, Ace suddenly became unwell and developed a rash. He was taken to A&E and, within days, was diagnosed with Leukaemia. Just days later, Ace suffered a seizure that left his brain unresponsive, and on 14th January 2023, he peacefully passed away.
Until then, Ace had been a perfectly healthy, happy child. Even now, it still feels hard to understand and believe he is no longer here.
Friends Fighting Cancer supports families facing moments like this by providing rapid financial help, respite breaks, grief support, and food bank assistance - ensuring no family has to face cancer or loss alone.
By playing for Team Ace, I am helping to honour Ace’s memory while raising funds to support other families going through the unimaginable. 🧡
