Team Bath-elona! Running the Barcelona Marathon 10-3-2024 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️

Our family was shattered to lose Chris last year, but so fortunate to have the incredible support of Dorothy House Hospice during his last couple of months, both at his home and in his final days at their peaceful hospice, just outside Bath. I never realised that Hospice care is not necessarily for people at end of life, but when you are at that point, it is like a guardian angel wrapping you up and taking care of you and everyone around you. Dorothy House continue to support us to this day, with valued Counselling for our family. I had no idea that they only receive 22% of their funding from the government - the rest is entirely from donations. I am so grateful to everyone at Dorothy House for taking care of Chris with such care and dignity that I wanted to repay them. The challenge of training for the Barcelona Marathon was perfect as he had been living there for a few years before he got sick and he adored his new adopted city, as did his children (and me!). The last time I ran a marathon was New York City in 2019 and Chris and the kids were there, cheering me on. To run a marathon again, in his memory and to benefit Dorothy House seemed an obvious choice. And as many of us live in Bath, the combo of Bath/Barcelona is a nod to each city!

I’m so touched and lucky to have alongside me some wonderful running buddies of mine and friends of Chris to join me to run 26.2 miles Barcelona on the 10th March. (Let’s face it, most of them will be ahead of me, rather than alongside!). We have been in training for a few months now and are now down to our last hard weeks of longer runs and maximum effort.

To help spur us on as we ramp up the mileage in these wet and windy days, we would be so grateful for any donations, however small. We will update you on our progress here, but for now, let me introduce our runners:
