David and James will be running a combined 140km+ over a few events this year including The Biatec Race in Slovakia, the Whitstable and Herne Bay half marathon and the Maidstone half marathon. The Biatec Race is a 24-hour team relay race covering 345km from Tatras to the Danube through hilly mountains and difficult terrains, which will be held over the 17th and 18th August 2024. Each team member will run 3 to 4 sections and each section will span between 7 to 12km. The race will be a test of endurance and probably speed if they come across some grizzly bears in the Tatras Mountains. Run quickly boys!

As part of their preparation for the Biatec race in August, David and James will take part in the Herne Bay to Whitstable half marathon held on the 6th July. Later in the year, James' cousin Tom will then join them for the challenging Maidstone half marathon on 20th October.

David, James and Tom are fundraising for a local based charity called Space 2 Be Me.

Space 2 be me is a charity that works across West Kent with disabled children and young people with additional needs. They work in partnership with member families to design activities and services that support disabled children by running a range of clubs for different age groups. They provide support to parents and the whole family by helping them enjoy quality time together as well as having the opportunity to meet other families who are facing similar challenges.

Space 2 Be Me has provided valuable support to James and his family over the last 5 years as James has 3 young children, Jack (9) and twins Jessica and Harry (7). Jack is diagnosed with autism, ADHD and profound learning difficulties and is preverbal and Harry has been diagnosed with autism and ADHD. Families like James’ rely on charities such as Space 2 Be Me for their services and support and as a team at Baumit we are keen to provide them with some fundraising support in return.
