Baz's fundraiser for Escapeline

Wild Hike · 8 June 2025
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my story, I hope it inspires you enough to support me.......
I am embarking on a wild, self-sustaining hike over the Picos De Europa mountain range from 8th to 15th Jun. This challenging route spans 110km with an elevation gain of over 4500m. I will be carrying everything I need to complete this trek, and my training starts in earnest soon.
Why am I undertaking this journey? Many may not be aware that the National Crime Agency reported in 2019 that there were approximately 2,000 county lines organised crime gangs operating across England and Wales. Their latest update in Nov 2024 reveals a staggering increase to 6,644 gangs, exploiting over 200,000 children as young as six years old!
Escapeline is a small charity of only eight staff dedicated to raising awareness about how these gangs manipulate children for sexual and criminal exploitation. Over the past 18 months, their small team has delivered vital training and personal support to over 17,000 children in the Southwest of England alone.
Despite their incredible work, Escapeline receives no government support, and this critical issue remains largely unspoken. It is stealing the innocence of children and teenagers across our country.
I am raising funds with a target of £1,500 to support Escapeline's mission. Your contribution will help ensure that more children are educated about these dangers and empowered to protect themselves.
My £1500 target will provide 8 year group assemblies educating 1,600 young people between the ages of 11-16 and also four one to one sessions with a young person who is being exploited and in need of support.
It sounds cliché but in truth, together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Thank you for your support!
