Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are proud to announce that we will be supporting Kids' Village as our Charity of the year through a variety of activities over the last 12 months.
Our team members Mira, Mandy, Karen and Gareth will be competing in the 12-hour ultramarathon held in September 2025, to raise money for the Charity.
Kids’ Village is going to be the UK’s first holiday village that’s only for children with critical illness.
Sam Fletcher-Goodwin and her family founded the charity after her own experience with childhood cancer. She said:
“Building a Kids’ Village in the UK has been a dream and intention of mine for 20 years. When I was 9 years old, I had an aggressive cancer in the side of my face.
During that uncertain and horrible time, my parents gave me hope with plans of what I wanted to do when I was better. We got to go to a place in America called ‘Give Kids’ The World Village’ which is a magical holiday village only for children with critical illness and their families.
We had such an incredible and transformational experience that as a family, we vowed to create somewhere like it in the UK if I survived. I knew I was lucky to go to America and I want to give children across the UK the same hope, magic and joy that I experienced in the safe bubble of people who understand”
The charity were gifted a piece of land in the Staffordshire countryside, have planning permission and have started on site. They aim to build Kids’ Village as soon as possible so that they can begin to support some of the more than 70,000 children with a critical illness in the UK right now.
