My Journey with Head in the Game
Previously, I had always battled with feeling out of place and anxious in social settings, constantly trying to be liked. A feeling of loneliness held me back at times, and I couldn’t even reach out to my closest friends.
That changed when a friend invited me to a Head in the Game football event, a mental health charity. The moment I arrived, I felt welcomed. I opened up, played football, and discovered a community where sharing your struggles is met with support from other men.
Inspired by that experience, I now lead sessions at Tonbridge where guys come together to play, share, and support one another. This ties into my running which started as a personal challenge and a way to relax my mind — After completing a few half marathons last year, I wanted to push myself to go further. Now, I'm taking on the Brighton Marathon to raise awareness and funds for Head in the Game.
My goal is to raise money for them, but more importantly, I want to spread the word about the vital work this charity does for mental health. If you believe in the power of community and the importance of mental health support, donate if you're able to and sharing this post to help us reach more people.
