Story

Across the weekend of the 2nd & 3rd September a number of staff from BDW Southern Counties divsion will be taking on another (yes you read that correctly - ANOTHER) 100km Ultra Challenge in support of our chosen Charity; St Barnabas House Hospice in Worthing.

St Barnabas House Hospice Care is a charity that aims to provide expert hospice care for people in Worthing and the surrounding areas - with a number of our own legacy developments in the Worthing area plus our current developments in Angmering, Yapton and Rustington it felt right to support a charity that offered such a crucial and important service based so locally to customers, a number of our contractors and also staff. Whilst it goes without saying that we hope no one has to use the services, inevitably this is just not realistic - which is why it's important for us to raise as much money as possible to support great charities such as St Barnabas House.

Now we have your attention, let's get down to business - Half of the team (David, Ben, Andrew, Jamie and Matt) are going all out and will be taking on the 1 day continuous challenge - starting at 7am they will be walking the full 100km straight though from Eastbourne to Arundel!!!

Day 1 - Eastbourne > Arundel 100 km & ~2170m climb

The rest of the team (Julian, Laura, Natalie, Phil) will be taking on the 2 day challenge;

Day 1 – Eastbourne > Hove = 55 km & ~1310m climb Day 2 – Hove > Arundel = 45 km & 860 m climb

This years challenge will involve a 7am Eastbourne start on the Saturday before we will be making our way up Beachy Head, across the magnificent Seven Sisters and along the South Downs Way towards a Brighton half-way point, the second part (or for some of us, Day 2) we'll be encountering Devil’s Dyke, and a few ups & downs will lie before us before the historic Arundel comes into view, and the finish line to our 100 km journey.The event itself, along with all travel and event accommodation is being fully self funded by the individuals taking part - this means that all donations go straight to St Barnabas House Hospice.
