Story

Hello,

Over the next eight weeks, I’ll be training and fundraising with other students from Dundee for the Beatson Cancer Charity, leading up to Dundee Fight Night on the 27th of March 2026. It’s going to be tough, but it’s something I am so honored to do. My goal is to raise at least £1000. Anything over that is still welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Cancer has been a big part of my family’s life. My aunt Pepi and my cousin Mariquinilla both spent many years fighting breast cancer. They were genuinely honest people — kind, caring, and somehow always able to smile, even when things were incredibly hard. Neither of them deserved what they went through.

Pepi fought cancer for eight long years. Even when chemo made her start losing her hair, she was still the same loving person. As a child, she’d let me sit with her and play with her hair. That’s just who she was.

Mariquinilla loved to read. She was born without the ability to walk and lived with that challenge her whole life, but she never let it stop her. She was stubborn in the best way — strong-willed, determined, and endlessly kind.

They both eventually lost their battles with cancer, but they never lost who they were. Their love, their strength, and their smiles still live on in the people who knew them.

This challenge is in honour of everyone fighting this horrible disease, but especially for Pepi and Mariquinilla. They’re the reason I’m doing this.

If you’re able to donate or even just share this, I’d really appreciate it. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps support people who are going through something no one should have to face.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support you can give. It honestly means so much to me.
