Urgent Appeal for Bean’s Life-Changing Surgery

Bean Needs Space to Grow –Help Us Fix His Tiny Chest 💔➡️❤️

Meet our little Coco Bean! 🐾

Bean was born with a rare congenital condition called Pectus Excavatum. In simple terms, his breastbone is dipping inward instead of lying flat, leaving his chest cavity narrow and restricting room for his heart and lungs to expand.

Right now, Bean is still a young, growing bundle of energy, but as he gets bigger, his internal organs won't have the space they need to grow and function properly. In turn this would eventually lead to heart failure and a life cut short before it has barely begun.

The Good News & The Catch:

Because Bean is still young, his sternum and chest wall are still pliable and flexible. Specialists at Liverpool University Vet School can perform a procedure to place a custom external splint that gently reshapes his thorax and holds his sternum outward while he grows. Once his bones harden in a more normal position, he has a better chance of going on to live a healthy, and happy life!

However, because his bones are growing every day, we have to act while his sternum is still pliable enough for this procedure to have the best chance of working.

He's booked in to be assessed for the procedure on Thursday 20th August and, all being well, will be admitted and have the splint fitted on Thursday or Friday.

The Cost: 💰

The estimated cost for Bean’s specialist procedure, splinting, and post-op care is between £2,200 and £2,700.

As a rescue, sudden specialist veterinary bills like this stretch our emergency funds to the limit. We desperately want to give Bean the bright future he deserves, but we can’t do it without your help.
