Run Wrighty Run

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
I ran my first and only marathon in 2016.
9 years later I’m running again… and this time it’s personal.
In 2021, as the world emerged from Covid our family faced a new challenge as Laila, our youngest daughter developed anorexia… It is such a cruel, cruel illness. After 7 months, Laila was admitted to Highfield hospital aged 13 where she spent 6 months as an inpatient.
Eating Disorders impact so many individuals but more than that they disrupt and sometimes destroy families.
In April 2025, it will be 3 years since Laila came home. We cannot ever repay the kindness of the caring team who supported Laila as well as Claire and I, through a very dark period in our lives. Laila is doing well and we want to help other families going through similar tough times…
So, its time to get my trainers on and run a marathon to raise awareness and needed funding to help other families facing into the pain caused by this, often, misunderstood illness.
BEAT is the UK's eating disorders charity. They give individuals experiencing an eating disorder and their loved ones a place where they feel listened to, supported and empowered.
BEAT predict 1.25 million people are affected by these serious mental illnesses. Eating disorders can be deeply isolating for the people affected by them.
Thank you so much for reading this message and any donations are greatly appreciated by family Wright and BEAT x
