Story
*FOR BEAUTIFUL BABY ALARAH*
On the 5th of October this year I will take on the challenge of running Chester's full marathon (26.2miles) for a remarkable charity Claires House Hospice, as baby Alarahs favourite comfort was her octopus, I will be taking on the challenge dressed as her octopus she loved so much.
My beautiful friend Laura and her partner John lost their gorgeous baby girl on 30/09/24 at just 13 days old.
Baby Alarah was born with Congential Diaphragmatic Hernia. This meant that baby Alarahs bowels and stomach were herniating through her diaphragm into her chest, pressing on her heart and lungs. At just 7 days old Alarah underwent her repair surgery which went as planned, however she became unwell & needed emergency surgery at 8 days old. After the most courageous fight, baby Alarah passed away surrounded be so much love ❤️
Me and my work friends watched Laura through her resilient journey of pregnancy, and when baby Alarah arrived the fight that they endured, we held so much hope and faith that they would be returning home with their baby to start this new incredible chapter of their lives.
The remarkable charity that is Claries House Hopsice, supported Laura and John through diagnosis in pregnancy up until Alarah’s passing. Claires House Hospice offered holistic therapies, parallel birth planning, specialised antenatal classes & memory making throughout. They attended every fetal medicine appointment, was present in Alarah’s birth & also when she passed away. The hospice have also continued their support with Laura and John, providing therapy sessions and any form of support they may need. The hospice also allowed Laura and John to spend the week with their daughter after her passing within the hospice, making memories & introducing her to their family and friends. The charity provided Laura and John so much support and comfort at the most devastating time, and providing the most incredible dignified care for baby Alarah. For us that love our beautiful friend Laura will be internally grateful for this hospice.
Please could you spare a few pound to keep the hospice available to provide the amazing care to families at emotionally desperate times in their lives ❤️
