Story

Hi everyone,

Myself and my bestfriend Edie are running the Hackney Half to raise money for MND Association. Edie’s lovely uncle, Jeremy Fisher, died in July 2024 of Moor Neurone Disease in less than a year following his diagnosis. It was a huge shock for her family, and we want to dedicate this run to his memory.

Dubbed the 1000 day disease to symbolise the speed from diagnosis to death, MND causes the motor neurones in your brain to gradually stop sending messages that reach your muscles. This can lead your muscles to weaken, stiffen, and waste. This can have a massive impact on your life as it can inhibit how you walk, talk, eat, drink, and breathe. Having seen first-hand how Jeremy faced the disease, it has inspired Edie and myself to use our bodies how he couldn’t and run the Hackney Half.

We are NOT natural runners. This is massively out of our comfort zone, but we’re both really honoured and excited to run for such a worthy cause.

Any donations (literally even if it’s just a couple quid) are hugely appreciated!
